Recipe: Delicious Spinach Dal

Spinach Dal Palak and dal go very well together. In India we do add veggies to dal and spinach dal is one of those recipes. I have adapted this dal palak recipe from a friend who would make sumptuous food. You can have Spinach Dal using 14 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Spinach Dal

  1. It's of Spinach ( I went for the frozen kind, you can get the fresh produce).
  2. You need 1 of Onion - diced.
  3. It's 1 of Tomato big - chopped.
  4. You need 7 cloves of Garlic -.
  5. You need 2 of Green Chillies - sliced across.
  6. It's of Mustard Seeds.
  7. It's of Cumin Seeds.
  8. It's pinch of Tumeric powder - a.
  9. It's tsp of Coriander powder - a.
  10. Prepare tsp of Chilli powder - a.
  11. Prepare 2 strands of Curry leaves -.
  12. It's of Dal Moong Dal - Moong ( Its yellow and smaller).
  13. It's to taste of Salt.
  14. Prepare of Oil.

Simple Spinach Dal is healthy, wholesome, vegan and good for you. Serve it with steamed rice for a Spinach dal can me made using lot of lentils. Like you can make it with masoor dal (red lentils) or. Spinach Dal instructions

  1. First cook the dal until soft in the pressure cooker. I let it cook for a whistle because the lentils are really small. Add a pinch of tumeric, and water to cover the dal.
  2. In the mean time, heat some oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Saute the onions, garlic cloves, and green chillies. When the onions start to become transparent add the coriander and chilli powder and the tomatoes.
  3. Next add the spinach and some salt and allow it to cook for a few minutes.
  4. I then added the cooked dal to the pot along with the water and added some water. I had to add some more salt and since Kingsley likes spice, I added some chilli powder and let it all cook for a few mins.
  5. This was a really easy and healthy dal (esp with the spinach :) )... It was filling with a few chapathis!.
